15X8 ON 83 MALIBU WAGON

will a 15x8 with 3.5" backspacing on a 255/60/15 cooper cobra fit within the rear wheel well of an 83 Malibu wagon? car has a stock rear lowered between 1.5"-2". I do not mind rolling or trimming the rear lips if need be.
just trying to avoid spacers if possible that 4.5" backspacing would require

your profile pic is a 15x8 rally which has a 4" backspacing. not 3.5

15x8 on mine with a 275/60R15

I don't think you'll have any problem with 15 x 8's with either 3.5 or 4" backspace...and 255/60 x 15's. A 3.5" backspace should better center the wheel in the wheelhouse...and help keep the tires further away from the frame rail. Therefore it would eliminate the use of spacers.
