When I crunched the numbers on the last fill-up, I averaged about 17.8 mpg. Not horrible, not great. About to be expected for the age of the car, and how I drive it (throttle on or off...You kind of have to with the 231 2-bbl.) What are your guys MPGs?

17.8 sounds pretty good to me. My 2015 Outback with a 2.5L 4 only gets around 20, my 1995 F150 with 5.0L, a stick and 3.55s gets 15-ish. I imagine the 350 Buick going into my Regal will probably get single digits.

I don't really buy stuff for fuel economy

The LS3 swap is looking more and more distant at the moment...But hypothetically speaking, if I can get close to that same level of FE with 430 hp, I'll be freakin' thrilled.

Is the wagon going to be your daily driver?

Compaired to my Silverado that's great. I'm averaging 16.3 right now, best average was 18.1 when I was doing alot of highway driving last year.

17.8 is right about where it should be especially considering the garbage they call gasoline these days. The ethanol in todays gasoline will noticeably lower mpg over older non ethanol blends. Considering my dd 03 S10 with a 2.2 and a 5 speed only averages 20-21 mpg your doin pretty good. My previous dd was an 86 S10 with a 2.8 and a 5 speed and it averaged around 22 mpg had NOTICEABLY more power and could power brake the 235/70/15 tires all day long with a posi to boot.

13 :wtf: 267, all the power of a V6, with the fuel economy of a big block

Hell, my F350 Dually diesel gets 16 with a 4.10 gear.

Granted I have a hole in my fuel line. :p
I realistically think I can get it to 12-14mpg with proper tuning, vacuum advance, and non leaky lines.
