Anyone know what a pair of #5 1968 heads are worth with exhaust manifolds and heat shield collector? Fresh off a sitting motor. Pulled them and the block was blown

That one cylinder looks pretty nasty. If corrosion is limited, at least a couple of hundred dollars. If Edelbrock releases their 68cc head this fall, even less will want them. The #5 is like the C head, most think it is the best head but is only equal to the other early 330 and 350 heads.

Water got in the #6 cylinder and cracked it hard. Thinking of saving as much as possible from the motor as well as the car in general. Factory mounts and clips from wiring even had a good brake line clip from the master to the valve block. Nuts bolts and screws all original have to be worth something for a restoration job that aren’t available still.

I did some digging around but I think you got all the relevant answers. #5 was 64CC, 1968 -1969. Nothing earth shattering, but, being pre-EGR they are not smog heads. Valve size would be different between 2 or 4 barrel, from what I've read. The only way to find that is measure them.

Not sure yet, but might have a 403 to pick up. It is missing a head and intake. So in a case like that, as an example, getting it to being runnable what you have has some intrinsic value. I would think 100 - 200 for the pair not out of line. They will need hardened seats, maybe valve guides.

Only the W31 got bigger valves 1.995"/1.625", otherwise 1.875"/1.56" on all others. The spec is 64cc, usually 3 to 5cc bigger untouched. They do give around 9 to 1 on a 403 with stock pistons and flow much better on the exhaust side than the stock 4A heads. Olds don't have seat recession issues unlike other brands and the correct seats must be used or they hit water.

Definatly stock 4bbl heads, that intake was NEVER off it with all the oil cake that was under the crossover! 😱 Think I have a picture on my phone of it. Had a TH400 in the car with a floor shifter (stock 400 downshifter and wiring at the gas peddle)too. I'm debating on saving the wiring or cutting it to just save the brackets. With the block junk, I looked up as to what the crank was(forged or not) until I pull it it’s a up in the air thing. Was really hoping for a good motor. Thank you for the advice!!

Thank you! May end up keeping them and finding a block. Have some head scratching to do.

Man, you east coast guys are living in a completely different reality. I applaud you for saving this one.
I posted a Buick in the spotted thread that my brother picked up. Turns out he got two of them and they have straight 8’s. They’ll be up for sale but , but he finds stuff you would never believe. The 68’ was one of those. I couldn’t see it getting crushed without saving what I could. The body is totally gone though.
