Hello, I have a few questions about upgrading my Steering Box to a quick ratio one.

I've bought the NAPA 88-277101 or PS 391080 Steering Box.

Other then That I know I need a 800 Series Pitman arm.

Looking at the Allstar ALL56354

Other then that I'm looking for a hose kit since i've read the lines wont work something like the Summit Racing SUM-G3160

I'd appreciate any help and info for this swap for a 1978

what motor do you have?
does this gear use oring or flare fittings?

for a return line, use edelmann fitting 39107 with sunsong hose 3501105

for pres hose, take whatever motor you have and find the hose for that motor when used in a 1981 gbody.

I take it your existing lines are flare fittings and the new box is the o-ring type. I've switched over quite a few of steering boxes and always prefer to use factory parts.
If you have access to a junkyard, look for I believe 82 and up fbody,GBody or Bbody. Make sure it has the o-ring fittings and take the return line side off the steering box. The return side is low pressure so you can just use hose clamps. Remove the high pressure line from the back of the power steering pump. Once you have the line removed, unscrew the fitting from the back of the pump. I usually also take the spring and valve .
Now just remove your flare fitting off your existing pump and put the new one in. Then it's off to the parts store for a high pressure line and some power steering hose for the return side. timo22

Believe the change to O ring fitting on the box was 1980, flare fitting for 78/79

OK I think I found everything I need to hook it up. Help me if i'm wrong

Gonna
Russell Performance 648060 and Russell Performance 648080 from the steering box to -6 AN line...To my power steering and use a Russell Performance 640380. that way I can run -6AN stainless line everything nice and neat

that is what I use and made my own high pressure SS line. I have headers so after the adapter in the ps pump I need a 90° fitting

Awesome glad I'm on the right track and getting the right stuff.... Do you happen to know if Allstar Performance ALL56357 is the right pitman arm needed

It appears by the application for that arm on Summit that is the correct arm. If you are going to make you own SS high pressure line I use this method with a zip tie and dremel tool to make the cut.
