How stock should I keep the thing. I have owned it since 1983. I have most of the stock pieces, except the Saginaw 4 speed.

Has the vehicle been modified much? Do you know what happened to the original Saginaw 4 speed? What transmission is in the vehicle now? Do you have any original documentation for it (build sheet, original bill of sale, etc)? Ultimately, the choice is up to you. Its your vehicle-how would you like to have it? Stock or modified? The object is not to do what makes other people happy, but what makes YOU happy.

Keep it as stock as you'll enjoy it.

With that particular car, there's few well executed quality done modifications that can hurt its value aside from a Florida redneck style swap onto a 4x4 truck frame with mud bloggers and a ls engine. Don't do that and it'll be fine.
