Hey all. Long time reader, first time post. Thinking of putting a 1972 Olds 350 and transmission into my 1980 Cutlass, found a good price. Is this feasible? I'm a noob and looking to do it myself (slowly). This will probably be a build thread but I'm trying to make sure I'm getting a decent engine for this application.

that doesn't look like a '72. olds engines in '72 were painted gold, not blue. and you have the large cap style hei distributor with matching air cleaner, this did come out till about '74. double check your casting numbers to verify what it is.

and i think that transmission is a turbo 400. been a long time since i've looked at one. if it is, you may have a 403 cu in engine.
what does every one else think?

Definatly a turbo 400.. Looks like a long tail also. Drive shaft will need to be shortened and a new driveshaft yoke will need to be sourced. Love the car. I am also partial to 78-80 cutlass. Keep us updated. Best of luck

Shortening the drive shaft... Is that going to involve anything custom? I'm trying to make this thing as plug and play (within the reasoning of an engine/transmission swap) as possible. Of not, may need to see if I can get the engine and a different transmission.
