This perpetual rainy weather is annoying if you like driving your car. But, it does give you time to work on projects.

Nothing quite says IDGAF like running a 3" hole saw through your core support, welding in a section of stainless exhaust pipe and gooping on some seam sealer to hide your sins.

Hopefully this helps keep the IATs in check - still have to finish the airbox/heatshield.

Mike it's such a nice car why did you make your seam sealer look like a child stick welder the pipe in? Come on your better than that lol

Truthfully? Because it'll never be seen, and if doing it 80% gets me back in to see my kids I can live with the warts.

I know I won't regret not spending the added time on it, but I would regret not spending more time with my family.

Make sense?

I know all too well what that is about! Something I would take all day making, I get a hour to do it now.

I worked feverously between nap time and pre-dinner to finish laying down the fiberglass mat on the airbox/heatshield - at about an hour and a half a pop - to keep things moving on that abomination. The girls do like their Daddy on goofballs... even if he smells funny. Resin FTW!

Hooo that looks like a nightmare. Not your work I just hate working with fiberglass. Everytime glass work comes in the shop I try to pawn it off on somebody else and I always get stuck with it

I was looking for this thread and I saw this: Get more exposure for your thread by making it sticky.

Between the seam sealer and the resin I think we are sticky enough up in here right now - thank you very much.

Ladies and gents I present to you the latest challenge with this thing: It drops into Open Loop at highway speeds (anything over about 63mph and 2300 rpm, and about 5% throttle) causes it to go from CL - Normal to OL - Accel/Decel which in turn causes it to go rich because the fuel trims turn off like if I was "givin' 'er!".

The only like instance I can find without a solution: https://forum.hptuners.com/showthread.php?42713-SD-Open-loop-tuning-Rich-at-part-throttle

It did not have this issue last Fall. Grrr...

Seems the OS (https://forum.hptuners.com/showthread.php?13185-What-exactly-is-included-w-1-BAR-MAF-RTT) I am using is essentially the stock OS with Real Time Tuning added (which I hardly ever use) so I may just take the stock tune, do a segment swap for the 4L80E, and then copy over the tune as is to see if that resolves it.

Alternatively I can turn on the STFT for OL and it should compensate up to 25% rich/lean. And people wonder why tuning is so expensive and specialized?

Grrr...

So today I grabbed another MAP sensor and moved to the intake; we'll see if it helps with the stored codes.

Next up was the mission to further lower the IATs by sealing up the left side of the rad with some insulation; then I slapped the airbox on for visual giggles. I still need to trim it down, prime and paint it; then cover it with "hot boi" reflective tape, install the weatherstripping, and add the silicone duct hose - but all of that is coming on the slow boat from China.
