I just came from the pick-your-part, and there were 1980 Cutlass Supreme RH & LH door glass. Will this glass fit my 1978 Cutlass Salon?

I couldn’t say 100%, but they look like they interchange in the pictures I’ve looked at. The salvage yard should have a Hollander’s parts exchange guide. It tells which parts from which cars interchange with each other. You can call a glass shop and see if both cars take the same part number window.

Parts book says 78-80 A47 will interchange. P/N 20152414 (RH) and 20152415 (LH) for tinted side window glass.

A47 is the notchback coupes, Cutlass Supreme and Cutlass Calais only. The Cutlass Salon coupe was G87 (Cutlass Salon Brougham was J87). I don't think they are interchangeable. If you go on car-part.com and search for 1978 Cutlass front door glass they ask specifically if the car is a notchback or a fastback style and they give you different salvage yard listings. The best thing to do would be to inquire at a glass shop and see if they are the same number.

One way to be sure is remove the door panel & look to see what is marked on the glass below the belt line. Most O.E., some replacement glass will have the body code on it-27, 37, 47, 80, 87. I have glass for my Monte (37) that has "37-47" on it. It may be possible to use Chevy/Pontiac "27" windows (Malibu, LeMans, Grand Am.)

Ok, I fumbled. Too used to looking at 47 body styles. Still, I think it holds true that 78-80 still interchanges by year as long as it's an Olds and same body style.
Parts book listings are kind of cryptic as they don't normally suggest AG87 or AJ87, but best I can tell, tinted glass 20152410 and 20152411 says it fits 78-80 A87 (I'm assuming that's any 2-door fastback?) Didn't get into any G87 or J87. These windows also are found in 79-80 Buick fastbacks. Not sure about '78 as the part numbers didn't line up.

EDIT: Never did answer the question though, although the answer is there- No. Salon and Supreme won't interchange based on the part numbers for 78-80. I couldn't tell you what the differences are, but that's how it is. G47 is the Salon for 85 and it's a notchback, so I'm so used to looking up parts for 82-88 it's hard to jump back into A-body terminology.
