Just bought a 1981 Cadillac with a neat V-8-6-4 368 EFI engine. Loaded with ALL options. Will get the car in september. Joy!

I'd be stunned if the cylinder-cutting was still functional.
Most people had it disabled by the dealership.

The problem with them is that the system shuts down the same cylinders each time.
This results in uneven temperatures and would lead to warped cylinder heads and even blocks.
A great idea that was simply a little too far ahead of its time...

Either way that looks like a heck of a nice car.

I've always heard that those V-8-6-4 Cadillacs were problematic. That is one clean looking Caddy, though. My bro-in-law up in Minnesota had one like that..same color...clean as a whistle. Man, that thing drove like a couch on wheels.
His did not have the 8-6-4 feature.

That and the plastic valve covers leaked like a screen door on a submarine.

The current owner had a switch added - you can turn the V-8-6-4 feature on/off. He says having the feature on is annoying while driving around town where you constantly stop and go, but perfect for highway and rural roads.

Can't wait to further experiment all that myself!

HOLY crappola! that ride brings memories to when I had a 82 4100 Cadillac Fleetwood d' elegance... same color, man it rode and functioned like a dream! it was awesome but what a pain in the *ss to clean the chrome spoked hubcaps! but man I loved it! I want a 2 door version so bad! had to sell it when It blew a head gasket! I sold it and made my money plus some some and got a set of brand new wire wheels to boot!
