Need some help, I recently acquired an 83 ss but im curious to find anyone out there who has seen one with buckets and T Tops. I looked around the roof and it doesn't appear to have any kind of weld beads or other indication that it was recently customized. Looks all stock.I know that some 84 ss had t tops but is it possible some 83s did too? I ran the numbers and it has the N vin and it says its a diesel SS. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

There were never a diesel powered SS. What is the exterior & interior colors currently & what does the body tag on the cowl say for color codes? Odds are it's a home conversion. There were no Monte Carlos with factory buckets in '83 & SS's had a special model only interior.

No 83' or 84' SS's could have t-tops from the factory, it became available on the SS sometime during the 85' year.

All 83's are bench seat cars, I believe split and power were options.

8th digit in the VIN should be a "7" for a 1983 Monte Carlo SS only. 1984-88 is letter "G". Sounds like you have a clone.

Factory t-tops mid year 85. before that where probably car and concept t-tops.

i ran the Vin and that alone is the only thing on the car that says SS. it does have the 7 and N was an option for the 350 Olds diesel from the dealer i think. I was sort of confused at first but when I went to get parts it offers the 83 SS as a diesel too. I'm just really not sure about the cowl tag it kind of really throws me off. Im not really sure what to think at this point.
