Is there a paint code for the '85 - '87 442s? Specifically the Claret color.

I've been repairing a small crack in the consle plastic just in front of the ash tray. The crack is now repaired, so I just need to paint the repair to match the color of the Claret console. I have an old can of Duplicolor touch up paint that I used when I first installed the console for a set of Lightning Rods. It matched the color of the console exactly, but it is empty, and Duplicolor has discontinued that color (DSGM 353 Dark Red Metallic). I have searched all the local auto stores (Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA, O'Reilly's) for a color that is close, but they are all too light (or bright). Have tried Chrysler Dark Garnet Red (BCC0413), GM Dark Torreador Metallic (BGM0521), and GM Addiction Red (BGM0596), but they are all very similar to each other and all too light. One that looks like it may be a little darker is GM 76 Dark Garnet Red (BGM0532), but I was not able to locate that locally.

I'm not aware that there is a paint code for the interior colors, but thought that someone in this forum might know.

Called a couple PPG stores today and they both told me they could not find PPG code 51170 in their sytems. I'll be looking at some of the other suggestions in this thread, as well as GM Code 79 and 79X.
It's in the '85, '86, '87 & '88 chip books. I should of added interior colors are mixed in PPG's One Choice. Did you try 51085? Depending on the gloss level you need you might need to see about having a clear mixed for the right level. Another option is to see if they also mix SEM as PPG had bought them a few years back. Another PPG code would be UCV 2-479 which was the code from an old discontinued interior system. A historical note, interior colors were also mixed in the lacquer DDL/DIA system which has also been discontinued just a few years back. This might of been why when they looked up number it didn't come up.

Thanks again for all the detailed information! I won't be getting back to the car until December, so I'll have time to check this information as well as some of the other suggestions that have been made. No, I didn't ask about PPG 51085, so I'll try that also. Neither store seemed very eager to help once they found out I didn't have an account with them.

There's a lot of paint shops like that who don't care fot the DIY guys. One thing I've learned before working at the one local place was to make sure you had an idea of what you were talking about & have an idea of what was what with thier product lines.
