First I would like to say that I am blown away by all of the impressive '86 442 out there and am so glad to have found this forum. reading through all of the posts has given me alot of ideas and has been extremely helpful in solving some of my problems. I recently became the owner of an '86 442 with T-top that has been in my family since '86 (original owners). In going through the car in an attempt to restore it and driving back from the store, the transmission cable recently broke and I just can't seem to find the proper cable to replace it. The transmission according to my research and bolt pattern appears to be a TH200-4R. I have had 2 replacement cables shipped to me and neither of them fit. One the ends were wrong and the others fits but the plastic that clips into the bracket that are manufactered on the cable causes the cable to be too short (seems as if the plastic that clips into the bracket on the transmission was slid back an inch or two it would work perfectly). Any suggestions on where to get a cable that would fit properly? I have a floor shifter...Also any suggestions on what to use on the rims to get some of the rust off...Thanks in advance!
