Well, my Cutlass is an 1986 by VIN and I much prefer the 1986 classic aggressive look. But at some point someone swapped the front for an '87. So I wanted to know what parts I need to swap it back to the 1986 look. Can you guys tell from pics if I have an '86 or '87 hood and fenders? Would I need the bumper too?

Or do I just need header panel, lights, and grilles?

The fenders and hoods were the same from 81-88. You need the header panel, lights, grills, and top bumper cover (the rubber piece). The metal part of the bumper is the same. Since your bumper is rusted you may try to find one of those as well. Post an ad on your local craigslist or offerup that you want the older style front nose and you will probably have everything you need before next week. Everyone around here wants to do the opposite of what you are doing. You may even be able to ask for some money on their end to boot if your parts are not broken. Those euro clips sell like hotcakes here in Phoenix.

Wow, for real? I don't know why anyone would want to trade that classic muscle style front end for the almost '90s euro look. But I'll post an ad here for straight up trade. If anyone is interested, message me. Not too worried about the bumper for now. Going for the street warrior look anyways, so she don't have to be pretty and perfect.

Hmmm. Not necessarily true. Most guys in my area prefer the 81-86 front end. I personally like both but some criticize the 87-88 front end and say GM swapped it over from the POS Chevrolet celebrity.

If it didn't already come attached to the 87, I'd change mine out too. It's ok, but it doesn't quite look as good as the earlier models IMO. To each their own.

I like the sleek look of the later style Cutlass front end but if I got another 81-88 Cutlass I would probably leave whatever style it came with on there

Some of us like to update the look and have the ability to upgrade the lighting with the composite lenses...

I like the 87-88 front end. The only one that appeals as much is the 83-84 Hurst front end. Good part is you will be able to sell your current front end.
