Just picked this up today. Well bought it anyways. Engine was built by a good friend of mine 10 years ago and is a real 400 block with a scat crank, roller rockers, aluminium edelbrock heads, air gap intake etc. Made 380 rwhp in an 87 trans am.
Car seems pretty straight, no drivetrain but wiring and computer completely intact and labelled nicely. I have an lt1 intake and just need a few more parts for the engine. Will be needing a t56.
Passenger door is full of glass and there has been a small amount of bodywork behind drivers door. Solid underneath.
Interior not bad, but looks terrible. Will be covering those seats for sure.

Well then I guess I will be looking for an lt1? A few for sale in Alberta. I am clueless about lt1 engines. They don't have a distributor? I have an intake available.
Could always go ls. Have one just laying around.

Will a Lt1 intake fit a 400 block and heads? If so could you go with a crank trigger?

Have spent last few hours researching lt1. Only sbc I have never had on my bench. Have found quite a few available that need rebuild. I love taking things apart and getting them made shiny and reassembled again. So the hunt begins.
I do like the distributorless system though. But the 400 could go into my cutlass or the wagon to make up for the f body intruding into the garage. That will probably happen soon. I almost cannot even bring myself to drive the olds with the current 305. Slower than my 96 Yukon at this point. Well slower than anything with the diff sitting on jackstands.
