how will i no if its uni bell or whatever you said. ?

Easiest way to ID Chevy vs. B-O-P is to look at the peak on the top of the transmission. A Chevy pattern CAN be bolted to a B-O-P (and vice-versa) with an adapter plate, but not enough holes line up to do so without the adapter plate. My $.02 - adapters are a last resort.

Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac (B-O-P) top is relatively flat

Chevy - top has a "peak"

Dual bolt pattern - Uni-bell .... not it has BOTH Chevy and B-O-P patterns ..... common to 200-4r kind of rare to find in the th350 .... I believe these are the ONLY GM aps witht eh double pattern. Number of bolts is the key to ID this one.

Kind of a hard angle to tell , but I'd swear it has the "Chevy" peak at the top ... not the trans you want for a B-O-P application. Could you get a picture looking straight at the pump? or even the backside of the bellhousing?

im gonna ask em for a better pic. If I get this one most likely Ill need to buy a dam adapter plate. Dont really want to do that. another 60 bucks. but well see

I was just going to suggest asking the seller "what engine was bolted to thqat transmission?" But I looking at it again (I'm with Blake) - move on to the next one - it aint the one you want.

guys thanks a bunch. I took a hard look at the pics and yep its a chevy. So listen to this.....Do a little searchin and I find a muscle car shop that has 2, o yes 2, BOP turbo 350s. Bang. One was out of a 78 trans am...passed on it...But the other was out of a 81 Regal.....Bang. Had all the correct plugs and sh*t. Dude says it runs good and he doesnt keep junk. Said if I have any issues bring her back. Best part was got it for the 125. Bingo

There you go and congrats. Glad to hear you picked up a good trans from someone that sounds upfront and honest. Just be 100% sure the pan doesn't say "Metric" on it. Many people mistake that th200 for the th350, because the pans are a simular shape.

O yes I no. What at least I do now that Ive asked a million questions on this forum. Thanks to everyone with their input and diagrams. Boy they helped. Its for sure the turbo 350....13 bolts. Ill keep my old 200 and probaly rebuild it down the road. They are gettin hard to find. But I cant wait to install it today. Thanks again fellas

ask away, isn't that what forums are for? So people with like interests can share their knowledge. I know I ask my fair share of questions. Better to ask than to assume.
