i in need of a 27 tooth gear for my 200-4R I found some on eBay and a few trans websites but they look like they are all plastic where my stock one is plastic gear metal shaft has anyone here tried one of these? Are there any leakage issues or stripping the cable end? thanks Steve

I bought a GM plastic gear for my MCSS I haven't had any issues with mine and it's been in the car for about 7 years with over 40,000 miles since installed.

Every trans I have owned and bothered to count the gears had the 27 tooth gear. If I step up to 3.90's in the 70, I would need a 31 tooth gear. Good to know the aftermarket ones last.

I bought mine at a transmission shop for like 7 bucks it came in a GM bag. I haven't tried any aftermarket ones.

Which one would I need with my 3.73, 200r4, stock rims, and tires for my 87 Cutlass

What gear do you have now and what does the speedo read? The driven gear depends on what drive gear is in the transmission and they weren't all the same.

3.73 gears and when my heater core gets put in I'll let you know what it reads. It's off for sure. I'll keep you posted

Besides the mph off at a given mph, what Speedo gears (driven and drive) do you have now? - you may need a flashlight to see the color of the drive gear.

There are too may variables to just say "you need a 30 tooth" gear, but if you know what you have now and how far what you have now is off, that's everything you need.
