i Never really hear of people using 295/55 drag radials for their cars over a 275/60 drag radial as a 28” street tire for their cars. Is there any reason why other than the very slight difference in price? I have both size tires on 10” wheels for my 2 g bodies. They seem identical to the eye but the specs are slightly different.

My buddy runs the 295s on his 15’ Mustang. TVS blower car mid 600whp. Full Cobra Jet suspension. The car hooks hard! I plan on mocking them up on my cutlass when I notch my frame.

I have ran both sizes but in different brands but currently have 295/55 M/T drag radials on my Monte and also ran 296/65 M/T's before that (too tall).
Most people run a 275/60 on an 8" rim which with the correct BS will fit on most Gbody's without modification and most makers of that size do not recommend them for a rim over 9.5" wide and for me since I do not like even the section width of a tire sticking out of the wheel well the 295/55 with 1.3" more tread and a wider section width requires a frame notch to be "tucked in" so IMO I consider the 275/60 more of a bolt on making it more common.

Well if you end up doing a mini tub it then you might as well go with something bigger than a 295/55 and make use of the added space.
My goal was to not have any rubbing issues on the frame or outer wheel well regardless of ride height or road conditions.

Here’s how my Malibu sits on a 275/60 radial, 10”wide wheel. My friends Turbo-T also sitting on a 275 radial pro, 10” wide wheel without a frame notch, the backspacing has to be perfect, can’t even fit your finger between the frame and the tires.

No major sanctioning body gives any advantage to the 295, thats why you dont see them.

That’s one of the reasons why I would likely just stick to a 275 also don’t want to scare the future victims in Mexico
