Did the Buick V6 ever get mated to a manual transmission? I have a kooky idea of putting a T5 behind a 231. I have a BOP Gbody bellhousing, ironically. RockAuto lists LFW131. Looks remarkably like a standard SBC neutral-balance 153-tooth flywheel. I have read about odd-fire and even-fire 231s. Also, would it bolt to a 400 or 455? No idea about Buick engine balance, tooth count, starter gear counts.

Any hints from the Buick community?

very few. there was a 78 3/4 speed (cant remember) stick regal for sale near me for way too much. completely rotted out.

TA makes odd and evenfire flywheels. $315, but no searching till one pops up.

There was the 49 state base model A's for '78-'81 that did come standard with the 231 & the 3 speed. Believe there were Cutlass 231's that might of had the 5 speed (Cutlass guys will correct that thought). Then the BOP H-bodies had 3, 4, & 5 speeds behind the 231 & the 196. Even Firebirds with the 231 had the 3 speed. Don't forget the Jeep's with a Buick V6. One thing I'm not sure about is if there will be a balance difference between the even & odd fire 231's or even one from a V8.

Be very careful with rockauto's catalog. Over the years there have been a lot of consolidation by people who don't know what they're consolidating. I will bet that flywheel is the same one for the series 2 3800. as far as RockAuto is concerned the displacement is the same so it must be the same part.

I went through this years ago on a manual transmission project using an intercooled GN engine. Even if you get a factory flywheel from a 78-79 you will still need to rebalance the rotating assembly unless you are putting the flywheel on a factory 78-79 engine. Those engines are externally balanced and piston weights really vary a lot.
On my project I used a steel Centerforce flywheel. That was back in 2000. I am not sure if it's still available.

I have several of those factory Hurst shifters if you know anyone looking for one.
Awesome and thanks! Mine seems to shift tight, I think they made them well.
