I know this is a odd one, but I know plenty of 305 knowledge on here. I have a 64 Bel Air with a 305 Monte motor in it. I just bought a Sniper EFI for it. Well after looking at instructions I noticed it states has to have a minimum 200hp. Currently car is stock 305, edelbrock intake with true dual/no converters of course being a 64 X frame car. Do you guys think a cam along with current combo will get me close to my 200 mark? I truly have zero concern on making a "fast car" I just wanted EFI on my cruiser, I don't wanna 350 swap it, lol.

Before any input, is it a LG4 (135-145 hp) or L69 (180-190 hp)? It's possible but compair cost of a closer to it 350 to what your 305 might need to hit 200 hp. Here's something from Hot Rod on the 305.

Cam upgrade and Super Charger will help :)

Still better than a non turbo V6 lmao.
I totally agree, actually the 305 4 barrel that came in my Monte was a decent engine, it just wouldn't cut it for my need for speed.

Fr, and not gonna lie I totally get it. Once you drive with a 350, or a big block you don't want to go back lol.

The most fun part about 305's?

Removing the smog and emissions components :ROFLMAO:

A cam will help along with a roller timing chain. Headers help a good bit too. Biggest power improvement would be 059 305 Vortec heads which can easily bump a 305 up to the 300 hp mark.

Many of those aftermarket EFI kits including the self learning ones are not designed for bone stocker engines. The designers expect such systems to be used on at least mild performance engines with some cam and compression. That is probably why they recommend a minimum 200 hp.

Sadly not sure on the LG4 or L69, is it stamped on it anywhere? I know the block casting number#14010202

Oh I totally agree, luckily I have "fast" cars. This Belair is just a cool cruiser for me, I don't care about it being fast.
