Ive found a 1973 350 rocket for $100 this is the info the ad is giving

"i have a 1973 350 Olds rocket engine.Complete engine. Not running.Not stuck.Casting number is 395558.Could be rebuilt,or used for a parts engine.Asking $100.00."

I wondering would it possibly be worth buying i mean its only a $100 so i wont be too much of a loss ?

Could anyone give me any info about these motors. Pros & Cons. WOudl it worth trying to rebuild this motor and would it be easy to swap into my 84 cultlass supreme which curently has a 305 (not sure of teh type yet havent been able to exam enough yet) ?

I'm not an expert, but I was looking for one not too long ago. There's a guy that run's a repair and olds performance shop. He told me they are strong torquey motors. He said they are more streetable than a chevy. Maybe if they are built I think he ment. Anyways, the oiling I've read is the only issue. So guys will put better oil pumps, etc. to fix the problem. One guy around the area was wanting $150 for one that was completely torn down. The cam was junk and I can't remember what else. It might be a good buy.

It sounds like a good buy. But if it were me and the car already has a chevy motor then that is what I would put back in it. Just to make things simpler for you. But if you dont mind doing a little extra work like switching the motor mounts then possibly a transmission then go for the olds. Just my two cents

That is a great motor with Probe flat top pistons, headers and a mild cam. A good valve job, milling and bowl work won't hurt either. Olds has better low end torque, all else equal. Is it a Canadian car? Probably a hack job anyways, if not original.
