I realize this isn't worth the effort but thought I'd share anyway.
I was at a salvage yard this week and saw this Mercury Montego.
They placed the vent next to the window to allow for a more narrow window that rolls down.

I don't know if anyone has successfully made a roll-down rear window for a wagon or 4-door G-body. Even if you could, it would only roll down about halfway, due to the wheel well radius. I think someone said you'd have to do a cantilevered window mechanism for it to clear the wheel cutout. I'd love for my rear windows to go down, but not sure it's worth the expense & effort.

The front of the door shell is a bigger impediment than the dogleg. TOTALLY not worth the effort, IMO

I kind of mentioned "not worth it" in my first post. But converting a Landau to non Landau isn't worth it either IMO.
The picture shows what Mercury did to allow the rear window to roll down.
Interesting how similar the rear doors are to the G Body. Even the rear wheel trim looks the same

GM did similar (division bar is not as vertical) wagons and 81+ sedans

The hinges intrude into the path of the glass on the GM version, the glass would have to go back to go down.

Have to disagree on the Landau conversion, I hate the fat pillar and cheesy pillar molding.....but that's why they made more than 1 version I suppose.
