I found a 79 Malibu 4 door today and curious what people think the value would be. I know what they are asking just thinking they may be high on the piece.
Here are the details but I forgot to snap a few pictures. 4.4 v8 and 3 speed auto transmission, runs and drives, needs an alt and exhaust to make it driveable for a long distance. Two tone green exterior and green interior, windshield is cracked, body is above average, rear quarters have surface rust, frame looked good.
Overall I think it is a solid un restored malibu.

I would say maybe $500-$800 since it needs a lot of work and being a green 4 door with green interior makes it a hard sell.
A new windshield will be around $200+
Exhaust repair could also be $200+
Probably $75 for a decent stock alternator
The only thing good about the 267 engine is it is a direct swap for a 350.
I am thinking closer to $500 at this point.

It's probably worth more after the minor repairs to someone as transportation than as a special-interest car.

Agreed on the green interior, tough sell.

There's a raggedy looking one here in Oklahoma for $1700 with black interior and Old style rally wheels...been for sale for about 4 months.

As transportation, probably $1000 or somewhere a few hundred either way...I'm afraid to most (yes, I know there are 4 door fans out there) G body people, it's a parts car.

This reminds of when a guy that owned the place where I got my hair cut who knew I was into cars told me about his mom passing away and she had a 72' Nova that had been sitting in the garage for years and he wanted to get rid of it and didn't want that much for it and I was thinking what a great deal this was going to be until I get there and he opens the garage and it is a green 4 door with a full green vinyl top and green bench seat interior, I just apologized and said it was not what I was looking for, apparently I did not ask enough questions.

Sounds like most agree it wouldn't be worth messing with. The place that has it for sale wants 1k but will do 950. I offered 750 but they would not do it.
I wouldn't drive it, had a 4 door in the past that I drove daily but that car I got for free and it was in better shape. Was looking to use it for parts for my two 79 el caminos.

I doubt there is even anything remotely close to $750 in parts that will interchange with an El Camino
