425 olds

i got home from the beach today and my brother in-law had bought a 425 olds tornado engine for 100 bucks. (complete with heads, intake and transmission). before i yank this out of the trunk of his CAR is this worth the money to rebuild. looking at putting it in a 77 trans am

The 425s came with a forged crank thats very desireable to olds guys. The block has the same bore as the 455s do so the crank is really the main thing that sets them apart. Alot of people use the 425 crank in their 455s for more rpms.

If it's actually from a Toronado it's a good one. Forged parts, hotter cam and higher compression. I'd be all over it for $100.
