I'm trying to set up my 87 Cutlass for a 496 big block Chevy but I been told that my setup would be very difficult to do. I want to be able to drive it on the street at least 2 hours away, with that said I've got A 496, I have a dual plane or a single plane intake i can use, with either a 750 or 1050 carb, 990 gm heads, 25+cc dome distons 10.7 commorescom ratio, cam 618 lift 306 duration, turbo 400 bullet-proofed no converter yet 9 inch with 350 gears 31 spline axles. just trying to figure out what would be the best setup to go with any help would be much appreciated thank you

If you want a driver I would go with the dual plane and the 750. I ran a Quick Fuel on my 496 for a year before switching to fuel injection and it worked just fine. You're probably gonna end up with a 3k ish converter. If you race it I think you will have a mismatch with the cam and the rear gears. Usually a cam that big asks for 3.73+

What is the duration of the cam at .050" lift? I think for driving it, I would go with the 4150 carburetor, though a 750 is a little small. If it was me, I would use a 1000 cfm 4150 carb on a victor Jr single plane intake. I am guessing the cam is not that big.

Driver-750cfm & dual plane
Street and strip-1050cfm & dual plane
Strip-1050cfm or bigger and single plane

Alot depends on your internals and rpm your going to max it to.

A single plane intake and a 1050 will be a pig at low rpm's with a 3.50 gear. Go with the dual plane and 750 carb and 3000 stall converter. If you decide to go quicker, switch to a 3500 stall, 4.10 gear and your 1050 carb.

I know you want to be able to drive it on the street but what is your real goals? As said you have quite a miss-match combo which you might want to re-think.
