Maybe I was incorrect in my question
I'm looking for sources for those parts
I prefer not to get screwed

I'm leaning towards buying a wrecked truck or van
But was wondering if that's worth the hassle
Because I'd have to get rid of the pile after I'm done

Maybe I can be happy with just a 4l60 if I stay n/a

Ok. I thought it was an unusual combo and didn't think it was available in a production vehicle until I read the thread I linked above. We bought the 6.0 (L96) in my brother's 78 Z28 from these folks...
https://www.nordstromsauto.com

It had 20k miles on it. They shipped it all the way from South Dakota to Houston. It was a good experience. It's a great engine. Everything they said it was.

Not too far. I'm in Spring. Timbo512 is in Cypress. James (JAMCAR223) is out here in Spring as well. I also know a fellow here in Spring with an 83 H/O. Maybe we can all get together sometime.

My brother, dad and I looked around here locally for a 6.0 when we were ready to buy an engine for my brother's 78 Z28. We looked at a half dozen engines but we wanted something low mile. The van his L96 came out of looked like a new truck. Something had fallen on the back of it and crushed the body. Nordstoms seems to specialize in low mile stuff, including cars that never even make it to the dealer (damaged in shipping). Do you know if you want Gen III or IV, or do you care?
