I put a 500 Cadillac in my '87 Cutlass Supreme over 10 years ago. I can feel the potential but I lack the mechanical expertise to maximize it. I haven't given up though.
The car is definitely more powerful that other big block musclecars I have owned. When it was running right it was scary. I still recommend the swap for the knowledgeable as the torque is incredible. The 500 weighs about the same as a 307 Olds. I did lighten the front end by installing an aluminum intake and an aluminum hood. With stock 307 front springs, a spacer under them and Moog Cargo Coils in back it rides level and nice. The trans is a Turbo 400 and the rear is a posi out of a junkyard Grand National which also contributed its front sway bar. The swap kit was from now defunct Maximum Torque Specialties. Bought out by 500CID. Right now its parked due to a possible bad rod bearing but after I get another project back on the road I will return my attention to the Caddy.

Let's see some pictures of what you have. Stock other than the aluminum intake?

I cut a hole in the hood to accommodate the air cleaner. I put a cowl scoop over it. The Rochester was rebuilt and recalibrated for the application. I had a set of small chamber heads with stock bathtub pistons. I had the heads hogged out to use big block Chevy valves. 2.18/1.88. I home ported them. The cam was the MTS MT10. its 219/228 with about .510" lift. The distributor was recurved. No cats. 2 1/2" headpipes. X pipe. Dynomax mufflers. It wasn;t loud except full throttle.

Assuming that the quadrajet is right, the distributor curve is reasonable, and the cam is degreed correctly, you have a great setup that should easily rev 5000rpm.

What seems to be unsatisfactory? Does the GN rear still have 3.42 gears? Stock exhaust manifolds?

Good to see another Cadillac powered car.

Yeah, if bearings are spinning that might explain some of the power lost. Have you noticed any drop in oil pressure? I ran slower at the track and saw a 5 psi drop across the board. I like anything but sbc or LS as a swap, it doesn't even have to be GM, just be unique and not a sheep. With how well the Magnum Ram EQ heads flow on my 5.9 with a better chamber, smaller ports and valves at less than half the cost of a set of Olds Procomp aluminum heads, I am tempted to put a 5.9 Magnum stroker in my 70S Cutlass or 88 Cutlass. Luckily I have 95% of the parts for a Olds 403 stroker and an Olds 350 for the 88, so I will do that instead.
