I put in 5660 with 1/2 coil trimmed off . All cast iron 350. World of difference in handling . I have cc627 cargo coils on back and with my sub box in the back it is perfect stance. Handling is more sports car rather than family car.

Mich, Moog 5658, I dug up some old threads on montesS and turbobuick, these seemed to drop the car1-1.75 inches in most cases. I recall running the 5660's, on my elcamino, but it had a big block. It was low to, nowhere near stock height. The 5658's are like 579 lb/in springs, so a higher rate than the OE or even the F41 (420lb/in) springs. This my be an option.

Jim, let me make sure I understand this. 5658 springs, uncut, with stock spindles and stock ball joints ? Thats going to lower the front by 1.75 without screwing up the geometry ?
Rockauto lists them for an S10.

This may help a little bit with spring differences. Had to search for it, but I knew it was floating around.

Can you post a side picture ?
What do you have for tires and rims ?

This was right after setting it down but not driven yet. It settled to about 1" gap from top of tire to bottom of fenderwell after driving. But stiffer , so no bottoming out going over rough rr tracks or body roll. Rides good on road. I can get a pic this evening of it settled. 235/60-15 tires

Mich, that is what I was reading in those old threads. The slightly lower spring rate and wire diameter of the 5658 versus the 5660 seem to lower the car more. Now, if you have worn out v6 springs in a v8, well, it may not make a difference. With a lower stance the increased spring rate is welcome. I was trying to find a pic of my 1978 Elcamino with the 5660's, though it had a big block in it, it was low.

I have also used 1/2" taller lower/upper balljoints, as has been brought up, in factory arms. But I was using an adjustable spring cup with AFCO coils on my old brown wagon with 17" wheels. I now have all SPOHN front arms, with 1/2 taller balljoints, and the same adjustable spring cups and AFCO coils in the turbo wagon.

Mich,
My friend Vince has the #5658 springs in his Cutlass wagon. I'll see if he has any side view pics of it so you can get a general idea.

These are the only side view pics I can find.

Thank you for taking the time to take those pictures. So many people using so many different springs. Kind of confusing. Also kind of a pain in the *ss. Not like its a five minute job.
