If your looking for a 7.5 posi, I've found in the yards a lot of the mid to late 80's caprices had a lot of limited slips as standard equipment. Unsure of type of carrier caprices had, 2 carrier or 3, more than like a type 2 carrier which means you won't be able to go bigger than a 3.23 gear.

7.5 type 2 carrier cut off is a 3.08....type 3 after that

i think i heard that chevy s-10's have a 7.5 rear with a posi on some of them that may work also. i guess if you talking about the 700r4 it would basically be the same as the 200r4 with the 3.73. Not to hijack the thread but i have a 2004r in my car with a 8.5 3.73 ready to go in, its just i was debaiting leaving it 3.73 or going 3.42. but from your comments the 3.73 seems fine with a OD transmission

i mean the 83 or 84 hurst olds came with a 2004r and 3.73's in "stock" form ( that's where the 8.5 rear end i have came from)

if you have a 7.5 with a 2 series carrier, order the bigger gears from jegs, an you dont have to change the carrier, i done this a few times, the ring gear is thicker and works fine.

Or, you can order a standard 3-series gearset and install a Richmond 1" ring gear spacer. I did that with an 80 turbo V6 Monte rearend that had a 2.41 posi-I used a 3.73 US Gears set and a Richmond ring gear spacer-worked great! Btw, of the three style of clutchpacks GM used, the cone type clutches are the strongest-that's what I had.
