No not if it's out of an 1977 which is an "A" body car the rear end is a little wider. You need an 8.5 from a "G" body 1979-1987 Do you have access to the 1977 Can Am as a whole car or just parts? Because that's a rare car.

That's a keeper, unless there's no metal left. Even then, might be worth a donor car to make it live again. I have a soft spot for Can Ams.

I guess between the Grand Ams and the Can Ams, it turns out that deep down I'm a Pontiac guy. Shoulda kept the 69 GTO 'vert....or the 70 Judge

To answer the question, IMO, there's too many tradeoffs to use the 73/77 rear...way too wide, wrong geometry, typically lame gearing. Gonne require way way positive offset wheels to keep the tires in the tubs. Money would be better spent on the dreaded 9" or other aftermarket solutions.

Yeah, that's a rare car. iirc they only stopped making them because the mold for the rear spoiler broke. Other than the rear wont fit a g body, it'd be a shame to dismantle a can am.

I had a 1977 Grand Prix which had the exact same interior and 'cockpit' dashboard and console (tilted towards the driver) as the Can Am did. Truly Pontiac had the best interiors IMO

Truth

My brother had a 76 GP, I think it had the colored 3 spoke wheel like my 70 Lemans sport did (without that big ugly center)
