Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone can tell me what a 78 Malibu classic should cost. Looking to build a project car. I found 1 in my area that's pretty beat up for $1000. Its been sitting for a while and isnt running, has a 305 from a 74 z28. Any feedback would be appreciated.

A lot depends on location. Here in central OK, they bring pretty good money if they're decent, partly due, IMO, to low sales volume when new. I gave more than that for a solid roller about a year ago...all it needs is everything :blam:

How bad is the rust on it?

The floor pans are rusted through and there's a small rust hole in the hood. The trunk is solid though. And of course regular rust underneath from sitting. I'm in N.Y. also btw Ribbedroof

This one needs a total rebuild as well. Just don't see many around here

I am in NY as well what part are u in?

If the rust on the floors is bad I would pass on it.

Floors = body mounts and a frame off resto/repair

The money spent trying to repair it could be used in buying a decent condition one.

Unless you are looking for a frame off repair/resto

Bummer I almost bought a 78 flat black Malibu roller for 300 straight and all it needed was motor and trans. didn't even have any rust

If there were $300 Malibu shells around here, I'd
A) Be in Bar50's league G-body ownership-wise
B) have my 2 door wagon project finished

I'm in queens. I will have to check on the floors tho I know the drivers floor pan is rotted out and the passenger side was repaired a while ago. I haven't had a chance to take a look at it yet.
