Great work!! Thats awesome you have a group of friends to help you out! Can i join your car club? LOL! Man, i love this build! Cant wait for more updates!
Those wheels look great on there! They dont look too big. I really like mesh style wheels, too bad they're almost impossible to find for our cars.

REALLY APPRECIATE that bro! More updates coming soon!

All Good brother! I really appreciate the input! The build, style, wheels will not be to everyones liking which is cool! I love the wheels and feel they flow with the over all theme. I wish they had just a touch more lip out back but work for now. The mesh style wheel I really want is out of my price range right now. The frame will be notched, boxed, braced for a 22x12 out back. Cant wait!

In the mean time, Ive been working super hard on my SS frame and undercarriage and cleaned up the built 8.5 im using for it right now..

Wassup fellas! Been a while since I last posted but Im still chugging along on the Bu. I only get out to Arizona once, maybe twice a year now. Work schedule sucks:BangHead: On my last trip, I dropped off my new seats and tracks and Ron Francis wiring harness. I still need the LS harness built. My main focus has been finishing up the SS frame notch and getting it back under the body. i just picked up an Eastwood Mig 250 and Versa-cut 60 plasma cutter for when the bu gets here. I plan on making a poor mans rotisserie from two harbor freight engine stands. Ive been working on the SS frame on some small jack stands and that has been no fun at all lol. Once the frame is welded back up and powder coated, i will drop all the Spohn suspension on it and slide it under the SS body. Then i can swap cars-SS goes to AZ and the DtoxBu comes to the rocshop. Few pics

Frame work on the SS so far. Soon as the Bu gets here, I'll be pulling the frame, bracing it, notching it and welding the factory seam for a lil bit more stiffness. The undercarriage will get he Upol treatment as well..

Bracing. My umi brace is welded in as well. I welded this up with the acetylene style of welding (a good friend did it for me)

Made these up from a thread I found.. Beefing up the inner side of the frame.

Please excuse the welds. I suck at flux welding. I just got e, in place so my dude could weld em in for me. You get the picture tho

The 317 heads I had cleaned up, valve job ect, had some pitting on the front and rear flat surfaces of the heads. A fellow G body enthusiast suggested I get some "head plates" made up. Did a quick google search and landed on emblem pros website. Ordered a "set", and got em in the mail. I was too excited about the "DtoxBu" design, that i got em in polisjed and not bloack lol. I'll either acetone the logo off and use em for my 87 Elco 6.2l LS build, or tape off the logo and use some steel wool and give the plates a brushed look.

Pic and a vid...

Now Im on to the cam, spring, retainer kit stuff. Im not a "motor" guy. I usually just get a crate motor and drop it in and roll. This time Im trying my hand at putting this together. Im looking at the LJMS twin turbo cam kit-Stage 2. Ill shoot them a call to let em know the specs of the motor, car its going in ect ect ect. Im unsure of the push rod length size ect.. I'll update about the motor as I get things going...

Get a checking pushrod (adjustable). I have a friend that trashed a set of heads because Lingenfelter said the cam would work with stock pushrods.

Thanks bro!! Googling right now. A good friend of mine doing a single turbo build made the same suggestion. Checking Summit now. I see Comp cams and Trickflow both have em. Preciate' the help!!

I managed to get a little work done. I re-mocked up my Holly Hi ram intake in a glossy paint scheme. I really dig it and will have it professionally polished and powdercoated.. I also cleaned up my rockers and prepped em for the Straub Technologies trunion kit, pulled the 862 heads off, cleaned the pistons up and mocked up the ARP head stud kit. I'll be ordering the LJMS Stage 2 twin turbo cam kit and springs/rods and all the gaskets to finish this off. Ready to button it all up... Parts are slowly rolling in..

The respray. I used Eastwood "EXTREME CHASSIS BLACK" Primer and gloss paint. I think it looks amazing. I loved the satin pro tour look as well, but I wan the motor to pop out. The bay walls and firewall will have that powdery satin protour look. All the UMI suspension is high gloss and will tie in with the motor. The frame will be color matched to te car(silver)

Rockers after a nice soak and scrub. They came out really clean. Prepping em up for the trunioun upgrade..

AND THENNNNN. I wemt OCD and blasted em at work along with the pedestals

Installed/mock up with a set of ARP rocker studs..

ARP head stud kit. My block is an early 2004 block and has the 3 different size studs...

The Comp cams trunioun kit and tool. I passed these over to my club bro and will install em in a set of rockers i blasted for him. Hes doing the wiring in my Bu so i wanted to take care of him. The tool makes it SUPER EASY to do. It has a serious little magnet that holds it onto your vise, and the rocker sets down in the machined groove..

Ive hit you guys with enough HTML for a week lol so ill stop here. Ill post some pics/vid of he trunion install later this week.

Thanks for checking back!!

Well in between playing nurse, working, helpng my dad (hes 85) and just bunch of other things, I still managed to get a few things done on the LQ4 block. I purchased a Comp cams Trunnion kit, took all my rockers to work and hot tanked em, then sand blasted them. They came out really nice. I then passed the Comp kit over to my club bro after installing em for him, and picked up a Straub Technologies Trunnioun upgrade kit. The Straub kit doent use the needle bearings. It has a brass fitting that is pressed in. really nice setup..

Used a little Permatex "Ultra Slick" on the rockers as well as assebly lube on the trunion

I also stripped the block down to bare metal for a fresh coat of Eastwood 2K primer and 2K Extreme black high temp paint. Going glossy..

Breaking it down...Cleaned all the mating surfaces up with WD40 and acetone

And thats pretty much it. Waiting for the "go fast" goodies, Katech timing chain, oil pump and gaskets ect ect to show up. I had to get a new rear main seal cover because I damaged the original one knocking the old seal out. Up next will be the Holley lo pro oil pan dressed in black.

Thanks for checking back!
