Gotta ditch the cheap valve covers for some fabricated sheet metal units too!

For pushrods I have always used Trend 1 piece .080 wall, I have fabricated valve covers on both my 565 BBC's and also on my 355 SBC and love the look.

I have never ran a carb with electric choke on any of my BBC's I am curious how well that carb works.

My awesome wife picked up the heads for me. Now I'm just waiting on the pushrod length checker tool and degree wheel and bigger oil pan. So I can check everything and start assembly!
That IS awesome. My wife complains about me spending money on the Caballero that HER DAD gave us. I keep telling her "don't you want me to take care of your dad's car?" At that, she quiets down a little bit.

Pops is coming over this weekend cause this is a father son project and were gonna bang out the most important details. Gotta degree the cam, check piston to valve clearance and check for pushrod length. Then hopefully we can start assembly and get this thing buttoned up. All the specialty tools are in and a few other parts like the new valve covers and oil pan. I'm hoping the next update will be 1st fire up!

I made the mistake of ordering the carb when I originally planed on running the motor in stock form. So I'm stuck with it for the moment and will just put it on the wife's bbf 78 bronco after fire up and a little run time. Now that I've stepped up so much I'm thinking a 1050 dominator might be a better choice? I also planned on going with some .080 wall comp cams pushrods since that's what the rest of the valve train consist of. Unless there's some good info not to?

Trick flow .080 wall pushrods from summit are usually a little cheaper. I wouldn’t be afraid to run an 850 on a 454. I wouldn’t run a dominator unless you plan on going to 7000+ with it.
