Hi everyone. I'm new here (and relatively new to G body cars) and am hoping I could get some help. I grew up around F body camaros, and still have a fairly unmolested 80' z28 in the garage. Regardless, my question seems to be one that pops up from time to time, but I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me. My father in law owns a stock 79 SJ 301 4speed Grand Prix and his health prevents him from driving it anymore. So, he's looking to sell it, but I have no clue what the market for that car looks like. Any chance some of you might be able to help me. I can post some pictures later, but for now here's the lowdown on the car.
1979 Grand Prix SJ with a 301 and a 4 speed (verified original through PHS). The car is tan with red pinstripes, a brown vinyl top, side body molding, and red vinyl interior. It has air conditioning, manual locks and windows. The radio is not stock. The body is pretty tight except for a few tiny spots where the paint isnt perfect. The car runs great and looks pretty good. Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Sounds like a very unusual color combination. Since visual impression is a lot of what anyone can go on, please post some photos as soon as you can, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers.

Pictures and location are the difference between a $1,500 car and a $5,500 car.

A few rough examples (with extra parts) have sold recently for around $1,500. The 301 4spd combo is rare, but it isn't a "great" car by any stretch of the imagination, so it will never be a gold mine, but a lot of Pontiac enthusiasts would like to have one, if only to say they have one.

If its straight, rust free running needing restoration, $2500-$3000 is a realistic starting point, if its shows good, everything works, drives fine, stock, I would see the absolute top of the market is around $6K and that might take a while to find a buyer.

If its rusty (even if it looks good), take $1,800 and run.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in putting these pictures up, but I have been a bit under the weather and couldn't get out to take the pictures. I took a number of pictures, which I'll post here, but I'll admit the car needs a good detailing on the outside. It looks worse that it is (dirt wise). At the time of the pics I couldn't get inside the car, but the interior is pretty imaculate. I've posted a picture to show that it is a 4 speed and so you can see the color. As you can see, the plastic panel under the headlights (not sure what that's called) has seen better days, but is still in one piece...as is the one on the back of the car. The car is currently at a friend of his getting some minor work done so it's road worthy when he sells it. Any help you could provide that lets me know what you think would be helpful.

Thanks,
