New to these forums and just wanted to show what I recently purchased. I just found this 81 wagon from one of my buddies. Dug it out from under a Quonset hut as you can tell from how clean it is.

my question was, is it really a G body and if it is, how many parts are truly interchangeable with these long roofs? I am looking to have fun with this car, any ideas or pictures would be appreciated!

It also has the 3.8 motor/drivetrain in it and fires right up! 965BA38F-2667-4891-B2DF-7D10C201E9A4.jpeg 2BDA6DC7-C2C5-4DE4-A810-3E3266441C13.jpeg 0A3AD5BE-326F-4AE1-BE47-B47EF181A36D.jpeg 7E271FBE-E942-453B-88C9-3300B2D9238B.jpeg 3896CE41-BA8F-462F-851D-990549924D47.jpeg 0E0978D4-1333-43E6-AECD-705D18878763.jpeg B597809B-98CF-469A-AB9E-11637B8EB867.jpeg

Welcome Vern!!!
Nice ride and nice SAVE! Technically speaking it is an "A" body, "G" bodies were in 1982-88 1/2 (depending on model). But Your Buick is part of the family and everyone here at G body consider anything from 1978-81 "A" body vehicles to be a G anyway, SO WELCOME!!
As far as your question goes, 1978-81 Century parts as far as doors, front fenders, nose pieces, 1982-84 Buick regal 4 door , some of those parts will interchange, doors, hood, fenders... as far as body parts. Again WELOCME!!!

That would be the main thing also! Suspension and things of that nature. I THOUGHT I was correct that it was technically an “A” body. I’m looking to have fun with this thing and make it look awesome also.

Sweet! A Buick Turbo hood from a 1979/ 80 Buick century Turbo coupe, or a 1978-1980 Buick Regal Turbo coupe will fit PERFECTLY on this car. That would look awesome.

Awesome. Might have to search some yards around here.

will the suspension from a g body work on a car like mine at all?

The suspension parts would be the same 79 to 88 with some minor differences for 78. Wheel studs did change from standard to metric in those years but those are interchangeable meaning you can remove standard studs and put in metric no problem.

Neat wagon, yep the chassis is the same and much else. 78-88 A/G body platform. 4 doors make good donors for things rear doors(not the door itself due to window frame) and forward. The rear seat/back interior panels are specific and a bit harder to find in good shape.

Nice wagon. And welcome. What's your plans for the drivetrain? If it were me I'd be thinking either an 86-87 GN drive train or on the other hand a Buick 350 or 455 with a 4 speed would be killer.
