81 up style dash in 1980 malibu

I'm looking at buying a 1980 Malibu,3 owner low mileage car. It has factory gauges with wood grain bezel,but it has the 81 style dash,the panel is dash color,not wood grain.my question is, is there a possibility of a late production 80 having this style dash?

That 81 and up style dash with the dash color insert was available with the sweep style speedometer cluster.

At some point the dashboard in that car was changed

This is a Canadian built car (Oshawa) but I'm guessing sold in us by speedometer,before I buy this I'd like to know all the options asap.should I contact gm of Canada or the gm archives here in the us? Thanks again

Best bet is GM Canada (since it was assembled there) or digging for build sheet. If seller is claiming all original, he's already pulling your leg.

Engine suffix CER is correct for 78 305 in a Chevrolet intermediate

Trim tag shows,u14 a51 m20 d35 u29. What I show for cer is 78,79,80 305,but no trans designation. Vin sequence is on engine pad
