Where would be a good place to look for a bad ground?

Cables are clean & tight. Would the 2 wire plug on the alt be a possibility? Car only has 65 k on it & has never been molested or modified & has spent it's life in a rust free environment

Thanks for the suggestions- keep them coming!!!

If the alt wire to batt goes down to a fusible link that may be shot. Try hooking a 10 gauge wire from alt + stud to battery + terminal. This is a generic diagram.

Alternator is a new not reman & was bench tested- good. Meanwhile if the fuseable link test bad by running the 10 wire . Where is the fusable link located?
I have the factory shop manuals, but they don't cover gauges only idiot lights.

Thanks again for any suggestions - they are helpful

Fuseable link is in the hot wire that goes from the battery to the starter. Its a little black or grey pill shaped thing inline with the wire. They go bad. Hook a 10gauge wire from the stud on the alt to the batter as said above and see if it changes. If so link is bad.

Is the 10 ga wire from the stud on the alt to the batt + just a test or can I operate with it jumped that way for a day to chase parts
should I disconnect it when not running?

Thanks, you have been very helpful
