If you end up going the reman route be sure you follow the installation requirements to the letter and document everything. Hopefully you won't ever need to make a warranty claim, but if you do you won't get burned by any technicalities.

Unfortunately your motor is a good example of a reman. Make sure you follow what they want for the warranty so it doesn't become void. Yeah a late 70's 350 is an upgrade, basically the same power as the 307 HO.

^^^You make an excellent point^^^
There is usually a big difference between a production "reman" and a purpose (re)built engine from a competent machine shop. The saving grace is the warranty but that usually comes with fine print hoops. Seems like we were constantly juggling reman companies when I was turning wrenches. They'd be great for a couple years then we'd get a run of warranty claims. Then find a new rebuilder and repeat.

OK I pulled the trigger and bought an Early 70's Olds 350 Reman! it was only a couple hundred more than the 307 so I thought it was worth it. Of course because I'm a cheap b*st*rd, I instantly regretted spending that much money but it will be worth it once its installed. FULL 36 Month unlimited mileage warranty, including Cam Failure on this one.

only bad part is they wont take my core, because its not a 350 (stupid) so now Im selling some 5A Heads and a 307 bare block that needs some machine work if anyone interested LOL
hopefully i can sell some of the other items off the 307 and make some of the $285 core Im losing back.

should get it next week!!!! cant wait!

Yeah, i weighed the pros and cons. Since I know who (or I should say Where) the old owner was, and this car wound up in the police impound (assuming he got arrested for something). (I know Im profiling like a ****, but Im half Puerto Rican, so I guess a pass) Im thinking P/O didnt break in the engine properly or something. based on some of the other stuff I saw on this car, he probably raced it first day with no oil...lol who knows, but im going to take my chances with this new one with the 3 yr warranty. makes me feel better. i will follow the instructions to the T.
