So as alot of people get ready to put away their rides. Im getting ready to take mine out. The weather is starting to cool off finally and we have some beautiful nights to cruise with the windows down
Heres a quick walk around I was letting her warm up
Quick cameo by my dog who was getting impatient. I was pausing her bone throwing time

So exciting news. I dropped the regal off at performance center of jupiter. Its a hot rod place (apparently these guys were contestants in the SEMA build off 2 years ago for what thats worth). I had faith they know what they are doing and man im not disappointed. Car runs so freaking good now. They fine tuned and timed it and fixed that shifting issue. It drives like a dream. Had it up to 70 and it was like i was driving a modern car. They also found a vacuum leak and fixed that and changed my air cleaner cover. They said the old air cleaner was starving the 4 bl of air

Super happy

Now the bad news. My “new” headliner is already bubbling and one of my “new” headlights from gbody parts is shot Calling both places tomorrow

so what was the high RPM issue?

Started the process of tearing off the vinyl top. I got the quarter glass and a new trunk filler plate I was pleasantly surprised at what i found. Its pretty solid under there. Some pitting on passenger side (i started to see the rust bubbling thats why i rushed to start). I thinks its solid enough to treat and fill. No holes.
I did find two random drilled holes on the passenger side that didnt go through the vinyl. Also, the lead filled seam is really smooth. Could it be this was a hard top at one point? Cant explain how those holes got there. You can see them in these two shots

Drivers side and around the window look really solid. I will clean it all up to bare metal this weekend and using 80 grit paper then spray 2K epoxy primer so it doesnt flash rust. I am working outside in south florida after all

Progress.
My luck ran out but i found a guy out here that does welding/bodywork on the side. He does good work so i am getting a price. I have a HF welder and all the stuff i just suck at it.

Finally finished. Just need to clean it off

after my previous body shaming incident, i properly planned my angles to not catch my adonis figure in the reflection.

Man bodywork sucks. And this is just stripping paint

my plan is to clean it thoroughly and wipe it down with acetone then spray eastwood 2k epoxy primer for the time being to stop the rust. I dont have any paint gun and never painted with anything other than a rattle can (sorry NYC subways)

when it goes for paint they can do it properly

That filler plate is being swapped for a new one
