Hello All !! I have a 1984 Cutlass with a 307. Yesterday, I blew the heater hose that connects to the water pump. So today I replaced it fill it up with a/f. And it was overheating ??? top hose was HOTTTTT !!! bottom hose was cool... I shut the car off and flipped up the release lever on the rad cap...a/f went into the overflow...waited a few minutes then started the car up and now the top hose appeared to be "sucked" close...shut the car off again checked the antifreeze and the radiator was only half full and nothing in the overflow...so while i was adding water i noticed the coolant flowing into the rad so the water pump, t-stat, and rad are good...but now the car seems to be running a little hotter then normal...what could it be ??

sticking thermostat / partialy open thermostat...just change it with a stant unit should fix your problem, your water pump might need a change too
