Does anybody know the original GM parts numbers or the correct lengths for the 4 belts on 86 442 with a 307 (a/c).

383_StealthRam posted for LV2, or NON-442. Which is great, but they used a little different setup for belt routing, thus different part numbers. Granted, they used LV2 for 84 H/O engine, but in 85, they gave it a new designator of LG8. Kinda confusing.

For 85-87 442 (and from what I understand, starting mid-year production of 84 H/O)-

85-87 VIN 9 POWER STEERING BELT
Factory and initial Service number 9433640 Belt-(3/8 X 45.00)
Later the service number superseded to 9433743 Belt-(7/16 x 45.50)

85-87 A/C BELT
Factory/Service 9433756 Belt - (7/16 X 52.00)

85-87 ALTERNATOR BELT
Factory/Service 9433764 Belt - (7/16 X 56.00)

85-87 A.I.R. PUMP BELT
Factory/Service 9433847 Belt- (5/16 x 46.50)

Be warned that a lot of the new belts stretch a lot. I find one to two sizes smaller are necessary due to stretch to keep proper tension and not run out of adjustment.

So the 83 HO is different? I know the 9 has a real balancer. Does it have the 3 groove crank pulley? I know the Y does not.

Yep. 83 H/O and 1st part year (not sure of the VIN break) 84 H/O used the separate alternator belt which did not partially wrap around the PS pump. In fact, I believe it is the same part number as the 85-87 VIN 9 PS belt for the 83/84 H/O alternator. It goes from water pump to alternator only.

I've seen later 84 H/Os use the partial wrap PS and Alternator with the same setup as 85-87 VIN 9.

The 83 and early 84 H/Os have a 2 groove bottom pulley with the AIR pump supplement, and a single groove PS pulley IIRC. Later VIN 9 have 2 groove PS pulley and 3 groove bottom pulley with what I call the AIR pump "addendum" pulley.

Here's the 83/early 84 HO type setup. It's typical on non H/O belt routing for 307 as well.

Thanks. I've been going crazy the pass couple days trying to figure it out. I'm trying to find original gm belts. I'm not concerned with correct numbers but obviously the correct the length. I want it to look factory correct.

That is what I thought the Vin 9 is basically the same as the 76 Cutlass I stripped for parts except the R4 air compressor. They should have ran the Vin 9 setup across the board.
