Welcome to the forum, I've converted my 86 GP to a standard but you'll find lots of info in the threads. Just use the search option and you'll find all the info you'll need. But first you need to post some pictures of your GP.. :)

X2. There was an '86 2+2 for sale here in Ontario in the fall, that had a 350 Chev swapped into it and a T5 transmission. Not sure how the swap was done, or what parts he used, but he was asking $7,000.00 for the car. Not sure if it sold or not.

Ya mean like this? It's a station wagon, but the work is the same. Just getting the parts will keep you busy.

just did a t56 install in my 85 GP used the John Bzdel pedal and it works great! I modded my original 2004r crossmember, hardest part was cutting the hole in the firewall but got it done! I must admit it was the BEST mod done to my GP!! best feeling in the world to shift your own gears!! DAMN can't wait to build the 408 OR build the LS1.... EITHER way do it!! btw check out my photobucket link in sig plenty of pics.

A few of us have done them. I have a Muncie in my Buick and chevy2480 has a super t10 in his cutlass

Not all that hard. Cutting some holes etc. It takes a while to source the parts and finding the right headers etc

Thanks guys for all the info. Great to know there is a group like this. I'm in CO now and the car is in NC but with any luck a week from Thursday it will be sitting here at home. Then the fun starts. I do appreciate all the advice and keep it coming. The car has been sitting for the last few years and now its time to get it running with a few mods. Will take some pics next week and post them.

figure out what transmission you want to use and what clutch set up you want and what parts do you have to start with. Do you have a welder that you can use?
