In the process of swapping the 307 for a '75 pontiac 400. Still a work in progress, will post pics and details as I get stuff moved around. Curious if anyone here has done this before.

Cool. Sure in fact there are several members here who have done this swap. Most with the 455 but regardless its the same block for fitment, exhaust, etc.

I ran a Pontiac 400 in an '81 Malibu wagon. Be prepared for the case of smile-itis you will be suffering from!

It would be a lot easier to find an Oldsmobile motor to put in there. If you want a big block get an Olds 400, 425, 455 to put in there... The Poncho 400 is COMPLETELY differenty..

i've been there and done that once a time ago but the cutty i had then was a 82 cutlaqss that was a diesel and put the same motor in it and man did i have the horse power and i i left everything stock in it including the the 2 barrel carb the only problem i had was hood height problem the stock 400 air cleaner was to big so to solve the issue i used one that was on a little 231 v6 buick and solved the issue have fun with it and good luck!

I have a 79 Regal with a 400 pontiac in it ......
Well actually as we speak the motor is out , trying to crank 475-500HP out of it .....

Great Street Racing Motors cause you can stroke them to 467ci and when u pop the hood it looks like a small block ...

I installed my 400 in place of the factory 301 many years ago. The swap is well worth the time and effort, and the aftermarket support for Pontiac engines is huge despite their age.

Keep us updated on your progress

Engine is about ready to put in, still working on which engine mounts to use, which headers will fit, all that fun stuff. Everyone likes pictures so here's a few of the progress:
