That was my original plan actually. My neighbor is leaving for florida mid January and will be gone a couple months, and I'll have keys to his climate controlled shop. However, I was off work, weather was nice, and the dash was ready to paint so trying to capitalize. I'm back outside painting a couple parts right now to avoid that wrath again!
One thing I missed yesterday....our attic access is in the garage and I didn't tape it off. I honestly didn't think much of the fumes going up through there since I mainly sprayed down, and had a fan at the big door blowing out.
Oh well, lesson learned.

I started attempting to properly locate the hood catch release cable but can't find the dang grommet! I'll try to find one in the junkyard unless one of y'all know a PN. I touched up the lettering on the handle using the RKTPWRD special method since the hood letters were barely visible.
That gave me an idea to get the trim pieces out and touch up the outline on them as well. WOW did it make a difference! I sat them on the dash and had to snap a couple pics! I had this vision of the dash many years ago and how it would look, and so far it's exceeding my expectations!

Firewall grommet, but it looks like the cable comes as a unit. I just spent a damn hour at the junkyard cutting undercoating away to remove one, then the damn grommet split in half FML!

Interesting about the grommet. I found a grommet, 9870128. It fits like 76-77 A body, and basically 76-90 B, C, E body and 84 D body. It doesn't list one for 78-88 A/G-body. I cannot recall if it came on the cable or not.

Can't recall what it even looks like. Grommets are in 9.775 group. Cable is in 8.075 group. The cable itself is p/n 20429339.

EDIT: Ok, never mind. I know why now. Bastages come with the cable. Can't get it separately. I never took my NOS ones out of the boxes to even look. But found one on ebay for $102.
