That's like trying to buy a replacement floor shift cable grommet/ boot. You can't buy those separately either...wtf!

Scott, the dash looks absolutely stunning. Nice work brother. And again, perseverance paid off. 👍

Interesting about the grommet. I found a grommet, 9870128. It fits like 76-77 A body, and basically 76-90 B, C, E body and 84 D body. It doesn't list one for 78-88 A/G-body. I cannot recall if it came on the cable or not.

Can't recall what it even looks like. Grommets are in 9.775 group. Cable is in 8.075 group. The cable itself is p/n 20429339.

EDIT: Ok, never mind. I know why now. Bastages come with the cable. Can't get it separately. I never took my NOS ones out of the boxes to even look. But found one on ebay for $102.

Yep, 2nd pic is it. I have no idea where mine is or if it's even around still. My BIL did alot of the teardown so who knows. Yeah, I'm not paying $100 for a cable. I'll rig a grommet before I do that crap!

I'm sure someone parting a 78-88 A or G body will probably give you the cable or sell at minimal dollar. Unless you can abscond one from the junkyard. Problem is, since it's a cable that fits A/G body, and that's the only one that fits. So there's no other car that I can locate via parts books that even might work. So in the junkyard, your only real bet is the A/G bodies.

EDIT: I MIGHT- and this is a big MIGHT- have an old cable in my box of leftover junk (misc pieces) from the 84 restoration. I thought I remembered seeing an old hood cable in there a little while back. Pretty sure I removed that whole as I used a little soap solution to work it out the firewall hole. I'll check today when I go out to the shop. Fingers crossed. I barely remember doing that.

Scott, seeing that dash come together how you’ve envisioned it is simply stunning IMO. It really looks sharp and classy. Clean, simple, elegant and modern at the same time. I more than approve buddy.

The silver accents around the outside of the inserts really make the carbon fibre pop, and vise versa. The whole thing just works in so many ways. Don’t be surprised to see the imitators copying you once the pics get out.

I know it’s been a ton of work for you up to this point, but you’ve persevered and now it’s paying off in spades. You should be extremely happy and very proud of your work. Way to go man.
👍🏻

Thanks buddy, it really feels good to have it painted and moving forward. Some people (not on here) have had doubts on my vision or plan of the car, but I believe once said people see it they will change their tune.
It was hard for some to "see" the design how I did with the dash and interior all being saddle and brown, but I knew back then. I'll be happy to tidy up the wiring and get this thing installed and start putting it together!
Now the chore is finding a hood cable at a reasonable price.

The dash looks awesome Scott! Very nice work!

I'm sure I've got a hood cable here if you can't find something closer.
