Well, it's been awhile since any work or updates have been done to my cutlass. The holidays took a toll on my family as my wife, kids and myself had to jump ship from the house we own due to mold issues causing my girls to stay sick, move into my sister's basement, etc. We moved into a rental house in late january while we figure out what to do with our house. Meanwhile, my body guy had a death in the family yadadada and it seemed like delay after delay for us getting to work on the cutlass. Now that life has settled back down a bit the cutlass grind is back on!
Last friday was the 1st time I've seen the olds since oct and man what a relief! I've got some great help prepping the body for primer as my work schedule doesn't coincide with my body guy's cutlass time as he has a normal full time job, but we all love the car hobby. In the past several weeks they have been working hard on the beast making sure the door gaps are straight(new hinge pins and bushings make a world of difference on them heavy *ss doors....no more sag!) The quarters are looking really good, luckily I've taken care of my baby since 2001 so the fenders, bumpers, and bumper covers are in great shape and just need prep work. We took the bumperettes off and will be giving the bumpers the "GN" treatment since re chroming is overpriced in my opinion. The original goal was to have primer on it by Thanksgiving but as most know, delays happen. A more realistic goal is to lay the 1st coat of primer by the first week of june....then block, prime, block, prime until I'm happy enough(i tend to get picky but i wanna see my vision come to life) to lay down the color which will be a PPG factory offered charcoal metallic buried in clear. Torn on blacking out the trim, but its in great shape so i will prolly just clean it up real good, polish it and throw it back on. Hope you guys enjoy the progress because i sure do!!!

Well after a decent wait time, i sold off my 15" centerline telstars to my brother and he put them on his s10. This allowed me to fund a new set of 17's! After going back and forth on ideas of what i want in the finished product i decided i love the look of my factory olds rallye's but something bigger with the same attitude. I ended up ordering a set of american racing vn501's in 17x7 front, and 17x8 rear and plan on a 225/50zr17 front and 255/45zr17 rear(should fit might need a small spacer). Got the fronts today and the rears will come ina couple days. I have to say, for a wheel under $200 they look pretty killer and can't wait to see them mounted with an aggressive tire. However, i will probably modify the center caps to have a rocket emblem just because. Hope you guys like, stay tuned for more.

I like those rims. I wonder what they would look like on a G body 442 with gold instead of black....[/QUOT
I think they would pretty badass with the 442 gold....I'm actually contemplating painting them to match the paint going on my cutlass which is a charcoal metallic, but i want to see them on my car once painted first before i make a rash decision.

Yippee, got my rear wheels on Wednesday so now i just have to get some decent rubber for them. On top of saving for a new engine, interior stuff, and odd and end goodies it will be a bit for the cutlass to hit the streets but the wait is well worth it! I'm pleased with the quality of these wheels for the price for sure!

Woohoo, just talking about primer earlier today. Managed to get off work early and stop by and see the progress on my cutlass and wow was i caught off guard!!!! I didn't know my bodyman was gonna shoot the 1st coat today on some parts, spot primer the quarters to make it look like a factory hardtop, but i am super elated to say the least! Big step made towards more hours of sanding and prepping for color to be laid down!

Small update, progress has been still slow going....working alot of hours and my body guy was out of town for a couple weeks. He returned and scheduled a couple saturdays to work on the cutlass, however last saturday got called due to heat index over 100°. Found out he was working on it today but i was stuck busy at work as usual. The beauty is he got the pass side in primer. He didn't want to hit the driver side completely yet since there is a little bit of fine tuning to do bodywork wise so the primer will be blended together. My brother n law sent me a couple pics to ease my anticipation! So far I'm very pleased with the outcome and the body lines & door gaps are looking stellar! Hope to have the while thing in primer soon and blocked down.....one more step closer to color woohoo!!!!!

Me too, especially since it was supposed to be painted about a year ago! As we all know, delays happen when doing a complete resto. I just realized I've done a horrible job on this build thread....I've got soooo many pics of the process i need to post from suspension work, frame mods, rearend goodies, etc. Damn i have some work to do to get these pics on here....so many it might stall the server. Sorry GP403 lol!!!
