Added this Gem to my fleet.
North Dakota car very clean overall.
Bucket seats with a near mint OD console
74-76 Olds 350 with a 2004r trans.
We did the MN to GA road trip with no issues.
Averaged 19 mpg at 75-80 mph

Nice car, should be a great cruiser. The 73 to 76 Olds 350's were GM's most reliable 350 from those years. Not screamers but with dual exhaust and a gear swap to 3.42 gears wake it up a lot.

Thanks,
The old girl is a bit loose. You can hear the lower end rattle with no load on it, so I was in the gas or off the gas on the road trip no cruise control lol. Put some 20/50w oil in it and add 1 qt of 70/90 gear oil for the trip.
She's going to get a 69 BBO 455, 342 rear LSD and a 700R4. should be a nice cruiser ;).

She drove really well for 156K miles on the shell no rattles etc. trans shifts good and solid I'm guessing its been gone thru to shift as good as it does.

Cool. I personally like the 2004R over the 700R4, so do many builders. Of course I like the 350 over the 455, too many people spin bearings and the bottom is more fickle to get right on a rebuild.

I prefer the 2004R also but the 700R4 is a fresh build that came in a 87SS donor car. Some day i may drop some coin and build one if my 2004r cores up nice and strong. I have may directions i could go. Starting to collect a lot of parts so i can change directions if needed.

The 455 is stock just under 100k mikes on it. Im thinking of just refreshing it up and putting on the fresh Ka heads i got in the deal and calling it a day.
Now i have 2 mid 70s 350s to work with, thinking i might take the C heads freshen them up and put the on the .30 over 350 i have waiting to be put together, already have the 7111 intake needed for the swap. Be much better the the 3A heads that were going to go on it. But ya never know lol
Opps I ment C heads

Hopefully some good upgrades were done to the 700R4. Yeah, the J and 8 heads with a bit of work are good heads, much better than any of the later "A" heads.

it was running behind a new 350 create motor and he said they did it right so we will see how well he built it when it gets behind the BBO

Hard to bullet proof a 700r4. Between the too low first gear, burned 3-4 clutch packs and broken sun shells. I prefer the 200 4r as well.
Have not dealt with 700R4 much, but its a fersh built trans so ill see how it works. It shifted well behind the 350 sbc. I can always build 1 of the 7 2004r trans i now have. They seem to be like rabbits they keep multiplying lol

Someone in the heavens is speaking to you about those 200-4Rs, use them Padawan….let the Force (and 455 torque) flow through them....screw the 700. Sell it with that SBC and use the money to bulletproof one of them 200-4Rs. Miles ahead.
