Just got this 88 Monte Carlo SS.
Had a couple things I was trying to work on. My driver and passenger windows work sometimes and sometimes they get stuck. I checked the switch the blue wire (up) to ground I had 14 volts and the blue/white wire (down) had 14 volts as well. Maybe I need to look at a bad ground wire? Also power locks don’t work I haven’t checked the switch for power yet but I’ve seen that they can get corroded so maybe I can start there. I’m missing the ac compressor and mounting brackets as well as the hoses, I do have an evaporator and condenser. I just ordered a compressor bracket kit so I’m hoping I can get the ac working. I also need to test the hvac control the blower motor doesn’t come on, maybe a bad resistor or motor. I’ll post some updates from time to time thanks for the add.

You likely need to check, repair and/or replace wiring for the Power Windows and/or Door Locks in the rubber boot of the door jambs. Usually the driver side wires will break inside there from the opening and closing over so many years. Sometimes the passenger side too but not as common.

Nice looking ride!!

i can't speak to the power accessory troubles but you can bench test the blower motor with 12 volts to see if that unit's any good.if the blower motor resistor was bad chances are you'd have some kind of action from the motor,be it one of the speeds.usually high.

Tested motor and motor was bad, just replaced it. Air comes from defrost vents only, used wd40 and opened vent behind dashboard and turned the car on and still only air is blowing from defrost vent no matter what selection I have the hvac control on. Any suggestions? Is there a cable that connects from the hvac control to this vent?

going to replace the wires in do time. I understand it’s an old car. My main priority is getting the ac going. It’s hot as hell down here in Texas. Also need to get the power locks working asap. Thanks for the reply man!

Check the vacuum line connections. Defrost only should be the default if there is a vacuum leak in the heater-A/C system.
Found this purple vacuum hose which I think broke off from the heater box, person I bought it from or whoever worked on it last obviously put a screw in it for whatever reason. I think it broke off from here, any tips on if I can fix it or would I have to replace the entire heater box. Appreciate you guys for the response, love working on my own cars man just trying to learn as much as I can.

That purple plastic hose is what feeds vacuum inside to the AC control head which in turn controls the vacuum motors in the duct work.

Just use some 1/8" or 3/16" vacuum hose available at any local auto parts from where it's broken over to the vacuum canister (if you have one) or direct to the intake manifold.

If you find that the air changes from dash vents to heat or defrost vents when you accelerate then you likely need to get the vacuum storage ball/can.
