A arm bushings

Looked over my Regal today for getting ready for my Blazer brake upgrade I plan to install this spring. Noticed my upper A arm bushings have several deep cracks in them. Guess they are dry rotted. My question is does GM make 1LE bushings for our front A arms? I want to use rubber bushings. Looking at Rockauto they offer rubber bushings with either plastic or metal outer sleeves, personally I would want metal sleeves. I already have one of those C clamp style ball joint press tools which can also be used for pressing the rubber bushings. Hate it when projects snowball.

Those look good. I suspect that heat from the TES headers may have dried out the upper bushings.

it will cost you twice as much to "rebuild" the 40 year old rust covered,probably cracked junk then to buy new Moogs or the lower price Dormans

what about these moogs....since rubber has a shelf life I would rather buy a new bushing than an ACDelco NOS bushing...

My Regal has 87K miles, both of my DDs have way more miles. It also was rarely winter driven by my grandfather and hasn't seen any winter driving in 20+ years so it is unusually clean for a northeast car of its age. The ball joints appear to be good, just the rubber bushings are expired from time. If the arms had over 100k and were crusty, I would replace them completely.

I agree about not using NOS rubber parts. Rather have fresh rubber parts than ones that expired on the shelf. Already own a ball joint press from rebuilding the U joints on my tractor.

I always rebush mine. However you can buy a preloaded upper with an offset shaft to eliminate the thick stack of alignment spacers on the upper. Along those lines, you cant use a ball joint press on the uppers because of the shaft. You can use it on the lower however. I do the uppers with a regular press.

I think the Moog Problem Solver (premium) upper control arms come with the offset cross shafts.

Looking at the costs of rebuilding my original upper A arms vs buying complete new arms as suggested by Turna, the prices are nearly the same. A upper bushing press kit is $50 plus $25 for just a new set of rubber bushings vs $72 for a pair of pre built new arms that include installed rubber bushiings, new crosshaft, and new upper balljoint.
