I figured I’d share pictures of my G Body;

I have a 86 Cutlass that I purchased when I was 17 back in 1999. I completely redid the whole car my senior year in high school and has been on the road since 2001.
It began a 86 Cutlass and I have always wanted a Grand Nation but couldn’t afford one, when looking for a Regal, a friend from Tech school had a 86 Cutlass for sale, I paid $400 for it. The 307 had a blow. Head gasket and the transmission had no reverse. I sold the wheels and tires that were on it for $425 so I basically got paid $25 to take the car!

I had a Chevy 350 build while restoring the car. It made 400hp which back it 2001 was something to brag about...not so much today.... I originally bolted it to a 700r4 trans but later converted it to a 5 speed manual transmission out of a IROC camaro.

I completely redid the interior , suspension, grand nation 8.5 rear, poly bushings, tubular rear upper,lower control arms, etc. the car had almost zero rust. I decided to paint it to look like a 84 Hurst/Olds as I love the look of them.

Here’s a few pictures

Thanks

Nicely done car, the Hurst/Olds colours makes it look sharp. I doubt the 350 is making 400 hp, unless the torque is much lower. If it is, how in the hell is the T-5 surviving behind it?

Thanks! It for sure is making 400hp, I had the motor built and dynoed so I have paper work proving it. It’s a world class t-5 which is slightly stronger but yes, it should have gernaded but it’s been rebuilt when I put in in the car back in 2003 and has probably 20,000 miles on it behind that engine. I however do not beat my car or do burnouts, so that is probably why it is still holding up

You may have an exceptional T-5 and not excessively abusing it along with a rebuild will help. What did the 350 put out for torque? That is even more important for the weak T-5 live. As said, nice car, the 5 spd is nice touch as well.

Thank you!
I have proved everybody wrong, they all said it would blow up... 16 years later it still shifts like butter! As for torque I can’t remember the exact number but it was around 400 or just below 400. I have the paper work stored in my attic so I can’t tell you the exact number....I still have my first car which is a 88 GMC S-15 Jimmy(same as a s10 blazer) that I put a 350 Tuned Port Injection motor in which is probably putting out low 300’s with a non W/C t5 out of a IROC as well and that’s been holding up fine too, I bought the trans used and have no clue how many miles are on that and it’s been in that truck since 2001 and still holding up after 50,000 miles. I guess I’m not hard on my cars!
