Greetings all! I have a 1st gen SBC 350 in my 85 El Camino. I'm hoping there is a quick fix to this problem. I can't seem to find the correct brackets for my build. In short, I removed the old AC/Heater Box, installed a block-off plate and want to shift the alternator to the driver's side.

I've tried using kits from ICT and Bill's Hot Rod. Either there were clearance issues or the pulleys were way out of alignment. Does anyone have recommended bracket solutions?

For my Regals 355 SBC I used a set of ICT AC brackets for an LS engine, flipped them over and then made brackets to mount them.
The PS/Alt bracket was from another engine that came with it but I added the adjuster.

565bbchevy: Nice setup! In switching my alternator to the driver's side, I've reused the stock pulleys. Perhaps that wasn't a good call! For now, I am going to live without an AC and heater.

I haven't returned the Bill's Hot Rod brackets yet. I will try using them with different and shorter pulleys.

I just read a MOTORTREND article entitled "Accessory Drive Belt on a Budget". Anyone have thoughts or recommendations on low-budget serpentine accessory drive from donor vehicles that will fit a 1st gen SBC 350?

K-Toe, the most inexpensive source for surpentine drive accessory setups are the one's designed by GM and installed on SBC V8's and 4.3L V6's. I'm willing to bet a wrecking yard near you has vehicles sitting with a V6 in them. And, when you go to check them out and buy one, be sure you grab/keep as many of the pieces, nuts, and bolts! Good luck!

Just remember to get a water pump designed for the serpentine set up if you go that route.

Reverse rotation water pump, with the fan if you're not using electric fans.

I've purchased two used serpentine setups, both came with everything needed (from the thirdgen.org guys). I upgraded both to Edelbrock water pumps and sanden AC compressors. dirty dingo sells adapter kits, or you could make your own.
